Appalachian Bow Knife
Handmade Appalachian bread bow knife also known as a fiddle knife. Each knife is made by hand one piece at a time by me in the Virginia Blue Mountains from locally sourced hardwoods.
The process begins with rough cut lumber from top grade furniture cutoffs. Pieces are then dimensioned, cut on the bandsaw, shaped, hand-sanded and hand-rubbed finish to complete the knife.
The knives effortlessly cut through all types of bread, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, and cooked/dried meats. The bow knife includes a steel blade, genuine leather loop and durable food grade hard-wax oil finish. Blades are very sharp, be careful!
Blade protectors are also made by hand in matching wood with concealed rare earth magnets to cover and protect the blade and your fingers.
Each knife comes gift wrapped along with care instructions and my direct contact information.
Basic Care Instructions included with purchase:
1. Hand wash only with warm, mild soapy water, NEVER put knife in dishwasher
2. If possible simply wipe/clean blade only (be careful of sharp cutting edge) using a dish rag, paper towel or bristled brush
3. Immediately dry blade to prevent rust on carbon steel blade
4. Oil the wood periodically (once or twice and month with regular use) with food grade oil such as mineral oil, cutting board oil, “wood butter” or beeswax
5. Wipe off excess oil with clean rag and allow to dry
